ARBURG is one of the world's leading manufacturers of plastic processing machines. The product portfolio encompasses ALLROUNDER injection moulding machines with clamping forces of between 125 and 6,500 kN, the freeformer for industrial additive manufacturing, plus robotic systems, customer and industry-specific turnkey solutions, and further peripheral equipment.

ARBURG is a pioneer in the plastics industry when it comes to energy and production efficiency, digitalisation and sustainability. Its arburgXworld tool covers all of its digital products and services, and is also the name of the customer portal. Its “arburgGREENworld” initiative, meanwhile, covers resource efficiency and circular economy strategies, plus every company activity and approach that relates to this.

The central objective of ARBURG is to enable its customers to manufacture their plastic products, one-off parts to large-volume batches, to optimum quality, in a resource-efficient manner and at minimal unit costs. The company’s target groups include the automotive and packaging industries, communication and entertainment electronics, medical technology and the white goods sector.

ARBURG has its own organisations at 37 locations in 27 different countries and, together with its trading partners, is present in more than 100 countries. This creates an international sales and service network that allows the company to provide first-class customer support on the ground. Production takes place at the headquarters in Lossburg, Germany. Of a total of about 3,700 employees, about 3,100 work in Germany. About 600 further employees work in ARBURG’s organisations around the world.

The family-owned company is now in the hands of the third generation and achieved a consolidated turnover of 780 million euros in 2023.

IML application for medical technology

Using centrifuge tubes with labels as an example, ARBURG unveiled an innovative IML application with added value for the pharmaceutical industry and medical technology. An electric ALLROUNDER 520 A "Ultimate", is designed for fast and demanding processes such as thin-wall applications. An 8-cavity mould from KEBO is used to produce 15-millilitre tubes made of PP. A label applicator head from Beck is used to apply the labels, while optical control is carried out via a camera system from Intravis. With the application, attention was also paid to a low carbon footprint, energy efficiency and a compact production cell.

Electric ALLROUNDER 520 A Ultimate, medical edition

Injection compression-moulded IML thin-walled cups

In a cycle time of 3.95 seconds, an 'ULTIMATE' ALLROUNDER 720 A can produce IML thin-walled cups with a wall thickness of just 0.37 millimetres. Thanks to a new all-electric packaging machine working in combination with Injection Compression Moulding (ICM), the energy footprint has improved by 20 percent and the component weight has dropped significantly from 13 to 10.8 grams. The IML product can be recycled by type after use because the special "Next Cycle IML" label can be completely separated from the cup's PP during recycling.
