About us

ARBURG is one of the leading global manufacturers of plastic processing machines. The product portfolio encompasses ALLROUNDER injection moulding machines, freeformers for additive manufacturing, robotic systems and turnkey solutions and peripheral equipment. The company places the topic of production efficiency at the centre of all its activities, taking into account the entire value-added chain. The objective is to enable ARBURG customers to manufacture their plastic products, whether as one-off parts or in high-volume production, with optimal quality and at minimum unit costs. An international sales and service network guarantees first-class, local customer support. ARBURG is represented by its own organisations at 33 locations in 25 countries and by trading partners in more than 50 countries. Of a total of roughly 3,000 employees, around 2,500 work in Germany.

Products and services

ARBURG offers electric, hybrid, hydraulic and vertical injection moulding machines with clamping forces from 150 to 6,500 kN. Robotic systems, turnkey solutions and peripherals complete the modular ALLROUNDER range. ARBURG is one of the leading global manufacturers in which customers worldwide trust for series production of their plastic parts. The ARBURG Plastic Freeforming (APF) process with the freeformer allows to tap into a whole new range of options for industrial additive manufacturing. The open system produces functional parts using qualified standard. A current focus is on the subject digital transformation, an area in which ARBURG with its decades of experience leads the industry. One of the objectives is the "smart" machine, which monitors its own processes, controls them adaptively and actively supports the operator in every situation. The ARBURG host computer system ALS, which is the central building block of Industry 4.0, ensures IT networking of production processes.

ARBURG offers a comprehensive package of reliable application technology consulting and production-efficient machine technology for the high-quality mass production of injection moulded parts. The highest priorities for the packaging industry are precision and short cycle times. This is exactly what can be expected from the Packaging versions of the efficient, high-speed, electric and hybrid high-performance ALLDRIVE and HIDRIVE machine series with clamping forces of up to 4,600 kN.

freeformer for additive manufacturing

ARBURG developed the APF (ARBURG Plastic Freeforming) process and the freeformers 200-3X and 300-3X as an open system. That's why users can process their own original materials and optimise droplet size as well as process control. The industrial additive manufacture of functional parts involves a wide range of materials, material and colour combinations and high part quality and strength. The ARBURG material database documents qualified standard granulates such as ABS, PA10, PC, TPE and PP.

Digital transformation

ARBURG is not only supplier of machines, but also a technology partner, efficiency promoter and pioneer in the plastics industry with regard to digital transformation. The focus is on how IT networking can further enhance added value in plastics processing. This includes the ALS host computer system, data transfer between machine, peripherals and mould via the OPC UA communication platform, as well as digital assistance packages for easy handling of "smart" injection moulding machines.

News & Innovations

The electric ALLROUNDER GOLDEN ELECTRIC machine serie is designed to meet customer demand for high-performance entry-level machines for the precise, energy-efficient production of complex moulded parts. They are available in four sizes with clamping forces from 600 to 2,000 kN. The dual five-point toggle system ensures fast, high-performance cycles. The play-free spindle drives operate with great precision. The position-regulated screw ensures excellent moulded part quality. The ALLROUNDERs GOLDEN ELECTRIC also feature liquid-cooled motors as well as servo inverters and offer benefits in terms of energy efficiency, short dry cycle times and high reproducibility. Compared to standard hydraulic machines, the high efficiency of the servo motors, continuous power adaptation and energy recovery during braking achieve energy savings of up to 55 percent. The machines are also easy to maintain, thanks to swivelling injection units, plug-in cylinder modules and further improved lubrication and cooling.

freeformer 300-3X
The freeformer 300-3X can process three components using the ARBURG Plastic Freeforming (APF) process, enabling the industrial additive manufacturing of complex functional parts in resilient hard/soft combinations with support structure as a world first. The new large machine expands the ARBURG product range and opens up new fields of application. Its available part carrier surface area is just under 50% larger than on the freeformer 200-3X. The build chamber now offers space for larger small-volume batches and 50% wider parts with dimensions of up to 234 x 134 x 200 mm. A two-part build chamber door is a new feature that e.g. enables the feed hoppers to be refilled during ongoing operation by opening the top half of the door. The heated build chamber now only needs to be opened for inserting the part platform and removing the finished parts. Automatic opening and closing of the build chamber door, as well as optional interfaces, also enable automation of the additive manufacturing process and integration of the freeformer in complete production lines.

ALLROUNDER 820 H in “Packaging” version
Hybrid high-performance machines combine the electrical speed and precision of the clamping unit with the hydraulic power of the injection unit. The ALLROUNDER 820 H in the "Packaging" version features the clamp design and GESTICA control system. The new hybrid machine has a clamping force of 3,700 kN and a revised size 2100 injection unit with newly adapted valve technology, that achieves even greater dynamics and reproducibility at injection speeds of up to 500 mm/s. Four thin-walled IML containers with a capacity of 500 ml can be produced in a cycle time of only around 3.8 s. An IML system inserts the labels, removes the finished containers and stacks them on a conveyor belt. The new ALLROUNDER is also "ready for digitalisation" as it is already equipped with the four new assistance packages "4 set-up", "4.start-stop", "4.production" and "4.monitoring, which get the injection moulding process up and running quickly and reliably.
